Honda FR-V (04 - 09)

The seating design means that it is capable of carrying six people, and the decent sized boot means that it can also comfortably carry their luggage. The mounted layout of the dash can be slightly awkward for the driver, but the glossy, wood-effect finish trim makes it easy on the eye, and there’s a really good level of standard kit and safety features. In terms of driving, the FR-V is an enjoyable experience. While it isn’t the fastest car around, the steering is responsive, the ride quality is smooth, and the driving position is spot on, although it does tend to roll a bit on corners but not to a detrimental extent. It was launched with two petrol engines and one diesel engine; the 1.7-litre and 2.0 VTEC, which were later replaced by the 1.8-litre, and the 2.2-litre i-CTDi. The latter has proved to be the most popular, thrashing out 138bhp, 340nm of torque, and an impressive fuel economy, returning 44mpg.
